We are truly thrilled to share with you the wonderful accomplishment
of our dashing colleague, Mamadou Diallo, who won the
Education Award at the Merseyside Black History Month Achievers
Awards 2010 held at the prestigious St George’s Hall, Saturday 9th
October. The Education Award is bestowed upon an adult who has
overcome obstacles to achieve success in education.
|
Mamadou has certainly overcome many obstacles;
more than any of us should have to endure, having fled
from repression in his native Guinea, West Africa. Here in
the UK he has since completed a four-year Masters in Telecommunications
Engineering, graduating this summer with
First Class flying colours from Liverpool John Moores
University.
Mamadou has just embarked on a three year
PhD program in Asset Management
within the Utilities Industry, with the help of
a full bursary offered by the same university.

“…I am delighted that I
won this award. My
gratitude to Asylum Link
Merseyside for nominating
me ... I could not have
completed my degree
without the constant support
of my beautiful
fiancée Sigita, Merseyside
Network for Change,
my friend, Manuela, and
so many others, and I am
proud to be part of this
multicultural city.”
